Here is one customer review I found and would like to share. This isn’t my normal practice when writing articles about products I enjoy but I couldn’t pass this one up. You can find reviews and others opinions in all different types of social media these days and yes we are all entitled to them which is why I don’t normally share since they are so easily found elsewhere. I do not remembered where I found this one but as an RC hobbyist enthusiast myself I just had to share these persons experience with their purchase of the Redcat Blackout XBE Pro 4WD Buggy. Customer Review: Let me start with saying Wow. This buggy has taken a lot of abuse from me. Yea I have broken a few things but mostly my fault. Not due to bad driving skills. Just pure 100% s***s and giggles. I started out with this buggy running the stock 2s 3200 mah hard shell battery that this buggy came with. Plenty of power to have a lot of fun with. Gravel spitting mayhem. Tires are hard. Thank god. I would have burned them off in the first month on the pavement. So got to the point I added custom led lights and (FOV). First person view, 600mw fat shark transmitter and Fatshark HD pilot cam in the cab of buggy with nose of cam sticking out of cage. Sooo now, I just needed more speed. Stuck in a 3000mah 3s Florion lipo that I had lying around from a X525 quadrotor I built. Wooow. Holy pavement eating gravel chucking monster. And yes the 4500mah 3s florions barely fit. But 45mts of heart pounding Fpv. Now after chasing neighborhood cats and dogs I progressed to chasing cars. And that’s when things started to break. Lol. Oh fun times. So the first thing is Dual rate steering DR on transmitter. This allows you to turn down the amount of steering you have total. Turn down for high speed 3s speed runs. This thing turns really sharp. Full dr will let you do summersalts at high speeds, but not recommended. So then their is the spur gear. I melted it. Oops. Thought I got a rock in their which can happen. But it was too much speed runs in a row. Not letting the buggy have cool down times in between high speed runs the motor has brass output gear and polymer or some type of plastic spur gear. So buy extra spur gears. And last is the shocks. I blew out all 4 of my shocks. In no way was that a bad shock. It more or less had to do with going off the side of the freeway on ramp at 40 or 50 mph and summer salting down a half a football field hill. But that another story. Then the curb I hit. Let me clarify. On 3s this cars on crack. It makes me feel like a stupid kid all over again. It is really durable i have flipped down the road 15-20 times. Uh and that’s just one wreck. I’ve jumped it. Broken off fpv antennas blew tires off the rims going really fast then turning if the tires lift off the ground with high throttle inputs. The tires balloon out and will tear away from rims. Superglue fixed that. Since then, they have amazingly held in there. Oh and I smashed the night vision led array on the front hitting a tree at night chasing cows in field anyways roll cage made perfect cockpit for fpv camera. Car has accidentally gone into the river. I wasn’t even drinking. And my dog thinks it’s a high speed chew toy. And my other dog is scared s***less of it. So are girls when you go for their feet. I really believe this buggy is nearing 50mph with 3s battery. 20 to 30c. Great for the price. Needs a little stronger shocks but that’s only from cartwheeling it down the road and jamming shocks sideways cracking plastic housings. Metal shock upgrades would solve this problem. But heavier duty plastic body truck shocks would do it. And higher temp spur gear. Or find a way to cool it without letting gravel get in where spur gear is. When doing forward and reverse donuts. But other than that what fun for 200 bucks. I’m sure redcats whole brushless line kicks but. Love the interchangeable suspension arms. I modded my transmitter and took off plastic antenna cover and pulled antenna out further and heat shrink tubed it. And buggys antenna needs to be a little longer or higher. For good 1/4 to 1/2 mile away. Tires are still really good off-road plenty of sponge foam in them for good ride. Love the electric motor breaking. Then when it’s stopped you let go of pushing trigger forward for brake then push forward again and it will reverse. If the buggy is up against something the Esc senses this and will not allow you to give big throttle imputs. So you don’t damage the Motor and Esc or Battery. Oh yea make sure you run a low voltage lipo alarm. You will just destroy batteries 3s buy higher C rating like 50C. For 3s. Stock 2s is 20C but Esc will handle more. Good luck. As you can tell this was a very happy customer overall with this purchase. Made a few modifications of their own and went speeds faster than the original design was meant for but it seems to have held up pretty good anyways. Getting an RC manufactured at speeds of 50+ is possible but then the price would change significantly as well. Even adding some more durable parts that could be made from titanium alloy would give it crazy durability but then the price would sky rocket to where you would need to take out a small loan on the RC vehicle. This is one thing I am sure Redcat is not shooting for.

WICKED FAST, great 1/10th scale RC truck. Looks and runs great, and super fast. Destroyed the 1st one they sent when I blew the steering servo using a battery that was too strong, but I had so much fun with it that I ordered another. Being more careful with this one using the proper battery because I would like to get my money’s worth out of it. LOL. Having a blast running it up and down the block when I go to my mother’s place to visit and all the kids love to hear it screaming back and forth down the street. Looking forward to racing my buddies’ traxxas in the coming weeks for bragging rights.

Very happy so far. At this price point this is an awesome little truck. I mean it’s not a traxxas but it’s not priced that way either. My biggest complaint so far is the wheels and tires. I didn’t like the look, just kinda like they said ah that’s good enough. Easy to remedy though I put a set of black chrome rustler wheels on it, they completely change the attitude of the truck

Not a bad vehicle, to fast for a starter though. I just purchased this vehicle. The description gave on Tower Hobbies is incorrect. The vehicle does not use 4mm Banana connectors, They come with a Deans-T plug off of the ESC. And for some reason the car comes with a banana to deans connector, its useless in my case.

The vehicle is nice and well put together, the thing I do not like about it is the response time of the remote, when you go from forward to reverse there is a long lag time between gears, it is not instant like on most RC’s, I will definitely be upgrading the transmitter and controller soon. And when I got mine out of the box the rear wheels both had toe-in, at first I was thinking “what’s wrong here” but it should be that way I guess it helps control coming out of corners and going straight.

Having loads of fun zipping it up and down the street. Wasn’t expecting to be disappointed, but with plastic shocks why wouldn’t I be. I bought this as a gift, his first RC car, for my 12 year old son. I have common general knowledge about RC cars, so I knew what kind of specs I was looking for. The blackout had pretty solid reviews across many retailer sites, and Redcat has a multitude of options and pretty large variety of models and variations among st them. So here we are, Christmas day, it was just brought out for the first time and the coil housing on the left suspension rod already snapped leaving it inoperable until the shocks are replaced. I am sorry but why use plastic housings on shock absorber’s? That is more disappointing than the fact that my son is s.o.l. for the time being. I expected better quality on one of the most important parts of great handling and performance.

Not bad for the price. First let me say I have been into RC for about 30 years. Most of which is with RC cars. I picked this up as an early Christmas gift for a friend who was very new to radio-controlled cars. Anyway I told him he would probably break it on the first run. And he did. Good thing that parts are easy to get. This thing can get out of hand very fast if you’re a beginner. I would suggest a one over on this before actual run. Check all the screws and nuts. Check the wheel camber and toe. Doing so will make this a bit more easy to handle. It lacks some little extras that some of you’re higher end brands have that make them more durable. Not to say this in not durable because it is for the most part. Just don’t do any crazy jumping with it that some other brands can handle.

Me You Super Fun Happy Number One Go Fast Now! I’ve been avid R/C ING since 1980 back then you would spend a thousand dollars on this stuff, assembled in kit form, every thing purchased separately. Now, RTR brushless motor, 2.4 radio with lithium battery and charger for only $230? If anyone complains about this product at this price they are sincerely ignorant about R/C stuff. This is the best! You will not find any better R/C stuff for any less!

AWESOME!!!!!! We bought this car for our son for a Christmas gift. He could not wait, so we got it out. This car should be selling for five or six hundred dollars! Its fast, very fast when you buy the 3s Lipo battery. We love it! If you’re looking for something, go get it now!

Redcat Racing Blackout SC. If you’re in the market for an RC that is affordable and is designed to keep you from having to purchase a bunch of extra parts then you are looking for this Redcat design. RTR stands for, ready to run. Basically out the box. It comes with everything you need to take the vehicle out of the box and go outside and start driving. They make it as simple as possible but you will always need some AA batteries and will need to charge the NiMH battery that comes with it. Even though you will have to wait for the battery to fully charge before you can drive it, with this particular vehicle all you need to complete it to make it derivable is 8 AA batteries. These can be picked up just about anywhere. If the like most of us you always have a box on hand or can find some around the house very easily. Defiantly not a deal breaker. So there you have it. All that is missing from the box is AA batteries. As you continue building the RC driving inventory you will find you have plenty of remote controls, AA batteries, a few different type NiMH batteries around along with the chargers. Most RC vehicles will come with the NiMH batteries and chargers except when you get into the more expensive models. The reason is the manufactures of these models want to give you the choice of what size battery you want that can give you the extra speed.
